Demon Wind 2 is Coming as Cult Horror Movie Gets Sequel 30 Years Later

Over three decades after its release, the cult horror film Demon Wind is getting a sequel entitled Demon Wind 2: The Serpent’s Coil. The original movie, directed by Charles Philip Moore, was released in 1990 and follows a group of friends who visit an abandoned farm and unknowingly unleash a demonic force. The sequel will continue the story of the original, with the son of the main character returning to the same farm to uncover its dark secrets.

Director Moore, who passed away in 2018, had long been interested in making a sequel to Demon Wind. After his death, the film’s original producer and cinematographer teamed up to bring the sequel to life. They hope to honor Moore’s legacy with the project and provide fans with a satisfying continuation of the story.

Director Eric Mathis tells Dread Central, “Like many of us, I’ve been a huge fan of the original Demon Wind since I was a kid, when my older brother rented it and I secretly watched it after he left it out. For years, I’ve been trying to track down the rights owners, and I finally managed to arrange a phone meeting and work out a deal to produce this film!”

“My goal is to honor the tradition of the original, which had so many incredible and memorable creature and kill effects,” Mathis told Dread Central. “We’re bringing the huge creature FX, loads of gory kills, and all the things we love as horror fans, and delivering them in a major way! We’ll explore the past, the characters, and their stories, and revisit the farm and Harcourt’s gas station, really play on all the things that made the original so great!”

The production of Demon Wind 2: The Serpent’s Coil is currently underway, with casting and location scouting taking place. The film is expected to be released sometime in 2024, though an exact release date has not yet been announced. Watch the trailer for the original Demon Wind below.
