Deadline has been announced that the twin directors Jen and Sylvia Soska will be at the helm of their own follow-up to the classic horror film, Night of the Living Dead, entitled Festival of the Dead.
In addition to the Soska sisters’ directorial skills, the film boasts an impressive cast. Ashley Moore, known for her work in I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Camren Bicondova, recognized for her role in Gotham, have both signed on to star in the film. Other actors set to appear in Festival of the Dead include Andre Anthony (The Night Agent), Christian Rose (Holiday Baggage), Shiloh O’Reilly (The Haunted Museum), Gage Marsh (You Me Her), Keana Lyn Bastidas (The Hardy Boys), and Maia Jae Bastidas (Rabbit Hole).
Here is the synopsis for the movie Festival of the Dead: It has been over 50 years since Night of the Living Dead’s original zombie attack and the horrific event has become the subject of morbid nostalgia. Looking for fun, Ash and her friends attend the Festival of the Living Dead, but it is disrupted when a blast of radioactive space dust hits the festival and they must defend themselves or be devoured by the living dead.
New movie Festival of the Dead is being produced by Jacob Nasser of Enlighten Content, and will be available for streaming on the popular platform, Tubi, sometime in the fall. Horror fans are eagerly anticipating this new take on the classic film, and with the Soska sisters and an all-star cast at the helm, it’s sure to be something to check out.
Interestingly, Night of the Living Dead is squarely in the public domain, so it is currently being reworked or revisited in a number of different ways, from an entirely different sequel, to a biopic, to an audio series. Suffice it to say, there is a lot coming for the zombie horror crowd.
