A Blade in the Dark (1983)

Synopsis

The movie A Blade in the Dark (1983) follows a composer who rents an isolated villa to focus on writing the score for a horror film, only to be stalked by a mysterious killer.

Bruno, a composer, moves into a large villa to concentrate on writing music for a horror film away from distractions. However, Bruno starts noticing strange occurrences, including signs of another person in the house when he is alone.

The movie A Blade in the Dark (1983) escalates as Bruno receives threatening phone calls from a stalker warning him to leave the villa. Soon after, a young woman who came to the villa is brutally murdered by an unseen assailant with a blade.

With the police suspicious of him, Bruno arms himself while trying to learn the identity of his stalker. More murdered bodies of women pile up around the villa. Bruno becomes paranoid and descends into madness, unable to tell hallucinations from reality.

In the shocking climax, the real killer is revealed to be Bruno’s Crazed producer, who envied Bruno’s talent. He traps Bruno to kill him but Bruno overpowers him. The movie A Blade in the Dark (1983) ends with Bruno left psychologically scarred by the traumatic ordeal.

The film was shot in Italy with an Italian cast pretending to speak English.

Director Lamberto Bava went on to make Demons (1985).
